Learning Portfolio

My name is Bobby Hsu, and I am a Computer Information Systems major at the University of Houston in Houston, Texas. This website showcases my most noteworthy assignments, as well as my collective thoughts and reflections on my learning experiences, from CIS 2336 (16398), a Spring 2017 course on Internet application development taught by Professor Ed Crowley. The course covers the fundamentals of client-side technologies–HTML, CSS, and JavaScript–as well as server-side technologies–PHP and MySQL. Together, these technologies allow for the creation of advanced, dynamic websites with boundless possibilities.

Site Navigation

The navigation bar at the top of this page provides links to each of the four modules of the CIS 2336 course, as well as a reflections section. Please be aware that this site is intended to be explored sequentially from Module 1 to 2 to 3 to 4 and then finally to the reflections section, as each section builds on the previous ones.

Module 1 focuses on HTML and CSS; Module 2 covers PHP; Module 3 addresses MySQL; and Module 4 concentrates on JavaScript. Each module page provides a brief overview of the materials, assignments, and learning techniques from that particular section of the course, and then directly below it are my selected assignment and any relevant thoughts.

The reflections section contains my overall thoughts on (1) the materials presented in the course; (2) the various approaches that were taken in presenting the materials; (3) my plans to build upon what I have learned if given more time; and (4) some ideas for utilizing my experiences in this course in the remainder of my time here at the university, as well as my eventual career.

The navigation bar also provides a link to my assignment portfolio, which serves as a virtual container for all of my assigned coursework from CIS 2336.
